I Got A Fist Bump From Elder Renlund
Hola mis amigos!!
Alright homies, it's been a little over two weeks since you last heard anything from me and a lot has happened, so buckle up.
Last Tuesday, I said goodbye to my family and hopped onto a plane to Mexico City! Although I was very sad to leave my family, I was so excited to meet my district, and let me tell you- THEY ARE SO AMAZING. Every single one of them radiates the light of Christ. I made it to Mexico City and the drive to the CCM (Mexico MTC) was insane. I literally could've stuck my hand out the window and touched the car next to me. And Mexico traffic is kinda like "every man for himself", so it was kinda fun, kinda scary. But Mexico City is so beautiful! I'm definitely planning on coming back with la otra Hermana Grimm after my mission! :)) Once I made it to the CCM, some of my district and I got the full run down on how things work around here, and we got to lug all of our bags up 3 flights of stairs. .... So fun…
But I got all settled in and met the rest of my district that night! It was so awesome. I'm not gonna tell you about every single day of the last two weeks, but I'll give the highlights fo sho. The first Thursday I was in the CCM, all of us missionaries were privileged to hear from none other than Elder Dale G. Renlund. (For those of you who may not know, Elder Dale G Renlund is an apostle for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! He works with our Prophet and receives revelation from God to help teach about the gospel of Jesus Christ). It was amazing to hear is message, and one thing that really stuck with me was when he said "You don't have to be perfect to teach a perfect message". (I literally got chills just writing that out again, how cool is that?!!)
I've learned a lot these last two weeks about trusting in the gifts & talents God has given me, trusting in His ability to help me teach, and that the gift of tongues is so real. My Spanish is getting slightly better everyday! I love (attempting) to talk with all the native Spanish speakers here! They're all just amazing people! As my afternoon teacher, Hermano Lara, would say "Español es super ultra mega fácil" (Spanish is super ultra mega easy). (Which is true... most of the time). Also, everyone here calls español "la idioma de los ángeles" which I'm kind of starting to believe is true simply because of how angelic the people here are. The food is AMAZING, and I've been trying a lot of different foods and drinks! They love to put pineapple on everything here, which normally I'm not a big fan of, but I think it's starting to grow on me for sure. (Pineapple on tacos is the best).
I have loved my time here so far, and it's crazy to think that after this week is over, I'll only have two weeks left here.. WHAT?! I LITERALLY JUST GOT HERE. Time doesn't make sense here is the consensus my district and I came to, haha. Also, I don't think I've ever laughed harder in my life! My district is constantly laughing and it's the best. :))
Alma 26:12
"Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever."
Fill me in on your lives!!
All the love,
Hermana Grimm
