WEEK 2: It's A Real Frog-Strangler Out There
Mis amigos!!!!
It wasn't actually a frog-strangler here in Arkansas at all this week, I just made this the subject because I taught a few people in my district some southern sayings this week. (This is one of my favorites. It's what you say when it's pouring rain outside, and it's a lot more fun than saying "it's raining cats and dogs" in my opinion, haha.) If you want to know more, just ask, I dun got a lot of 'em up here in my noggin'.
I am officially done with my second week of CCM (Centro De Capacitación Misional Mexico)!!
(Like 76 more weeks to go haha, but it’s already going by so fast).
I’m definitely feeling all the emotions as I’m wrapping up my last week of home CCM, but the thing I keep telling everyone when they ask me if I’m ready to go is this- HECK YES. Sitting in zoom classes all day, every day for two weeks talking about God’s amazing work has only increased my anxiousness to get out there and DO His work and bring others to Christ! But I guess I need to learn more Spanish before that can happen, and that’s okay, I’m excited to go to the CCM in person.
This week has been filled with so many tender mercies. The Lord really knew what He was doing when He put me and all my friends in district 7B. :)) As I’ve connected with them more this week, especially with my companion Hermana Anderson, I’ve realized that the Lord always knows who we need in our lives, who will understand us and be able to help us grow. Hermana Anderson, I am so grateful for you and for everything we’ve been able to share with each other so far. I’m definitely bummed about losing you as a companion next week, but I know you’re gonna do amazing things in the rest of your MTC experience and then in Bolivia!! And everyone in my district has such a strong testimony, they all literally glow with the light of Christ, it's AMAZING. (They're all already such amazing missionaries, I can only imagine how FANTASTIC they'll be in 18-24 months).
Anyway, this week I learned even more about the gift of tongues and even had a pretty cool experience with it while I was teaching a lesson!! In the MTC we do a lot of practice teaching investigators (sometimes they’re real, but most of the time they’re made up). During one of these practice lessons with our made-up investigator, Lucia, Hermana Anderson and I shared a message about our loving Heavenly Father. I had kinda pre-drafted an outline just so I would know what to say during the lesson, but as I was sharing my testimony I felt like I shouldn’t say what was written on my page and share a genuine testimony from mi corazón. As I put away the paper, I found the words came easier to me, and that I was more focused on sharing His love with Lucia. It was so cool. I don’t think I’ve spoken Spanish that well ever, but it came so easily because I let go of what I wanted to say and allowed the Lord to speak through me. That my friends is just a glimpse of The Gift of Tongues. Pretty dang cool if you ask me.
ALSO, this week was Hermano Robles last week as our teacher. :’(
Definitely sad that he won’t be our teacher at the actual CCM, but I’m very grateful for everything he taught me and for the example he set. GRACIAS HERMANO ROBLES!!! (I will always have a Book of Mormon in my hand.)
BUT I AM SO EXCITED TO MEET MY DISTRICT NEXT WEEK AND GO TO MEXICO CITY AND REALLY GET THIS JOURNEY ROLLIN’!!!
If you’re in Arkansas and want to say bye to me before I go, I leave on Tuesday, so just message me or email me or come to church on Sunday and give me a hug :))
GOD IS SO GOOD. He knows you so perfectly, and if you don’t fully know that yet, I invite you to pray and ask Heavenly Father to help you understand just how much He truly loves you. I promise He will make that love manifest itself in so many ways in your daily life. He wants you to know you are loved ALWAYS!
If you made it all the way to the end, share with me your favorite scripture or quote and your favorite emojis!! Mine are these: D&C 123:17
THE NEXT TIME I WRITE IT'LL BE FROM MEXICO!!
Te amo,
