Doc Martens With The Steel Toe

Hey howdy hello

This week went by SO FAST. But it was so good! This is probably going to be a pretty brief email because I'm calling my family and writing this at the same time.

This week we met with a lot of our friends and ate SO MUCH FOOD. But today I thought I'd focus on the little miracles that happened during the week.

This past week my ward (or the congregation of people I go to church with) threw a pachanga (party) for someone in our ward that turned 100. Our bishop asked me and the elders to sing... which we definitely did not wait to prepare until like an hour before the party started... but God really helped us and we sang a beautiful song for Roberto (the 100 year old). And not to mention we ate some dang good carne asada. It was amazing.

Okay, okay, now for a cool spiritual moment that actually happened on my birthday!! (Also thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday, my 20th was one I know I won't forget!!) After I got to call my family, my companion and I went out to the street to find more people to teach this week. We went to knock on some doors of people we knew were previously interested in learning more about Jesus Christ. Before we got out of the car, my companion and I said a quick prayer that people would be open to hearing our message. (One thing that no one talks about in missionary work is how much rejection we face on a daily basis. It's a lot. A lot of unanswered calls, doors, texts, you name it.) So I really wanted people to answer their doors because it was my birthday. And every single door we knocked yesterday was opened. (WOOOOOHOOOO) A literal miracle from God. And it made for the best 20th birthday I could ask for.

Oooo also, let me explain the title real quick. While we were at church on Sunday a lady walked up to me and commented on my white doc marten shoes. She went on and on about how much she loved these shoes, and then told us that when the Lord comes back again, she wants Doc Martens because those things will have lasted until the Second Coming. It was super funny.

Anyway, it's getting really hard to remember everything that happens during the week because so much happens during the week... and I forgot my journal today which is my LIFELINE when it comes to writing everything in these emails.

I love you all so much. Thank you for supporting and encouraging me out here, it really means so much. I hope you all have an amazing week, I think and pray about you all everyday!!

Love,

Hermana Grimm
