Tiny Angel Soldiers

Hola from sunny San Diego!!!

Wow, it has been one crazy eventful week, but to sum it up I'll just tell you that I LOVE IT HERE. San Diego is beautiful, and the people are incredible.

I live in a place called Chula Vista, which is only about 10ish minutes away from the Mexico border. (So I use Spanish all. the. time.) We meet a lot of people from Tijuana, and they're always talking about how good the tacos are down there, so it's on my bucket list to try one of these tacos after my mission, haha

I got here a week ago and I was absolutely exhausted from a full day of travel, but I met my Mission President and his wife AND my sweet sweet companion- Hermana Worthington! After we left the airport, Hermana Worthington and my STL's (sister trainer leaders) took me to eat a Cali-burrito so that I would officially be a CDSM (California, San Diego Mission) Hermana. It was life changing... and also the biggest burrito I've ever eaten in my life. If you don't know what it is, look it up! (It's got fries in it).

This past week was basically like drinking from a firehose. Lots of information thrown at me throughout the week, but you just have to take on each new thing as it comes. I love teaching lessons though. The people I've been able to teach so far are just so open to hearing messages about Jesus Christ, but I also think that it's super normal in Latin culture to openly discuss religion. It's been beautiful. And if you want to know some more of my stories from teaching this past week, write me an email and I'll tell you one.

Okaaaayy I'm going to make a bullet point list of things that happened, because literally so much happened and this email would be a novel by the end if I didn't do this, haha.

-ate In-n-Out for the first time IN CALI

-met Joe (who is a member in our ward who LOVES missionaries and missionary work). He is literally my grandfather but if he were latino

-taught some lessons over the phone and zoom, which was kinda cool

-went to teach a guy named Gabriel for the first time at his house, but we had to bring the elders with us, AND I AM SO GLAD WE DID. Gabriel lives not even 5 minutes away from the border and on some random property in the middle of nowhere where you have to walk by all of these old abandoned houses to get to his RV in the middle of this field. It was super sketchy, but the spirit was very strong in that sketchy rv. And then we gave Gabriel to the Elders bc he's in their area anyways

-did some service at a local food bank and afterwards got Bible bashed outside a Walmart

-I sang at a baptism!

-knocked on some doors

-climbed through our apartment window bc we forgot our keys in the locked gym of our apartment complex

-lots of Reese's PB cups were consumed this week

-I love my companion, she and I have some scary similar life experiences, so that's been fun to discover

- I ate the best ceviche at obispo's (bishop's) house on Sunday. His wife makes the best food ever. Ceviche is shrimp mixed with lots of other good veggies and MANGO. I loved it.

-gas prices are literally insane here

-people always assume that all missionaries are from Utah, it's pretty fun to see people's shocked looks when I tell them I'm from Arkansas

-I can't even walk on the sand....

- life is so good, and today my comp and I are going to explore Imperial Beach and Old Town San Diego!!

I've loved being here!! San Diego literally feels like my home away from home.

I love you all so much!! If you want to hear more stories from this week, shoot me an email!!

Also if you've made it this far tell me if you're team Edward or Team Jacob! (And tell me WHY. This is for scientific research haha)

LOVE YOU MUCHO!! GOD IS SO GOOD
