What's Mario's Favorite Kind Of Fabric? Denim, Denim, Denim
YOU GUYS!!! EXCITING NEWS!!! MY FRIEND MARIO IS ON DATE TO BE BAPTIZED!!!
This week we celebrated not one, but TWO birthdays! It was Elder Alonso's birthday last Tuesday, and last Wednesday was Hermana Worthington's birthday!! We played hard and worked even harder!! (Just because it's your birthday doesn't mean missionary work stops haha). But it was super fun!!
Okay, let me tell you a few stories since I haven't really been good about those lately. This last Thursday we went to go see our friend José. Now José is a real interestin feller and he is just always outside of his house. I'm convinced of it. Right there in his front yard. But he also has a TON of dogs, I'm pretty sure most of them are strays. But there's one dog that is always in his front yard with him. Anyway, we went to visit José, and we go at the same time every week because José doesn't have a phone, so we have no way to contact him other than going to his house.... and he's always there. But that's really beside the point. We walk up to his house and his little stray dog hops off of its chair and starts barking at us. José wasn't outside and there were a lot of things blocking the front door to his house. There was no way for us to get a hold of him except for waiting to see if he'd appear in his front yard haha. So we started walking away when lo and behold this little dog started growling and acting like it was going to attack us. And man it had me and Hermana Worthington quaking in our boots. That little dog is MEAN. And it had us cornered in. Hermana Worthington put me in front of her as we both tried to hurry away without getting taken out by this little dog. In hindsight it must've been pretty hilarious for the neighbors to watch these two sister missionaries run away from this tiny little dog. But we waited outside his house in our car for a minute to see if he'd show up, but he didn't.
But you know who did.... FRANCISCO THE GARBAGE MAN!! Francisco came to one of the first lessons we ever had with José. He just pulled over in his garbage truck and sat with us for like 15 minutes and we talked about the Book of Mormon. And he's shown up every week at the same time there so he can take the lessons too. It's seriously awesome.
On Friday night, my ward had a Baile de las Madres!! (Mothers day dance). IT WAS AWESOME!! My ward looks for any chance to throw some kind of party or dance, and mothers day was no exception. Hermana Worthington and I took to the dance floor for a minute to join in on the fun!
Walter even came to the dance and had so much fun!!
And of course, Sunday was Mother's Day!! And I got to call my mom!! Which was so awesome. So grateful for my mom and everything I've learned from her!!
This week I had some really good personal studies, and I thought I would invite you guys to read some of the things that I did!! I read in Luke 22 about when Christ administered His sacrament to the Apostles and when he was crucified on the cross. Verse 32 especially stuck out to me this time. As well, my mission president has challenged us to read three different talks and write an essay about what the spirit has taught us from these three talks. They're all by Elder Bednar, and they're all amazing. I'll include them here!
The Atonement and the Journey of Mortality: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/ensign/2012/04/the-atonement-and-the-journey-of-mortality?lang=eng
But we heeded them not: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2022/04/14bednar?lang=eng

The Lord loves you MUCHO!! I'd be very interested to see what you learned from any of these talks, so send me an email with your thoughts.
I love you!
Bendiciones,
Hermana Grimm
